A prominent cultural institution with a history of over 90 years, Bethlen Theater has been functioning in its current form since 2011. Bethlen Theater receives funding from the local government in order to provide residents access to a wide range of high-quality theatrical and cultural experiences. The theatre fills a significant gap in the cultural landscape of the district. While the downtown area is characterised by a lively cultural scene, Bethlen Theater is the sole institution providing cultural offerings for local community members of the more residential outskirts. The mission of Bethlen Theater is to serve as a multidisciplinary, experimenting, talent-nurturing centre for the contemporary performing arts where performers from the region can realise their ideas and develop professionally in a supportive environment. It aims to provide an atelier and common platform for the territorially and professionally diversified artistic community of the region. Bethlen Theater is committed to creating an equitable, inclusive and accessible environment for all audiences.
